We created Tusk so we could work together, gain greater control over our time and, most importantly, help clients of all sizes bring breathtaking architectural projects to life that truly meet their needs.
Choosing the right Architect to partner with on your project is not only one of the first decisions to make, but one of the most impactful. Our goal is to not only create great architecture, but to assist you in the process, making it as enjoyable an experience as possible.
At Tusk, we're known for being practical and approachable while delivering client–specific, thoughtful designs. We know first-hand how overwhelming the process is, which is why we prioritise clear communication at every step of the project, up until (and beyond) completion.
Transparency means you understand what to expect from us at every stage of the project, as well as what we need from you to bring your visions to life.
We also understand the emotional and financial investment that goes into building and renovating. Our goal is not only to deliver high-performing, beautiful spaces, but to ensure you feel confident and supported every step of the way.
A key part of our approach is our early builder/contractor engagement. We believe that when the client, architect and builder are involved from the start, truly exceptional architecture can be achieved. Too often design is completed in isolation, only to be stalled later when pricing doesn't align with the brief. Our method helps prevent this, saving time, money and stress. More importantly, builders are signing onto this concept in greater numbers as it ensures higher quality work with better outcomes and far fewer headaches. So in short, a win–win!
Our process is structured into five key phases:
Concept/Sketch Design
Includes site meetings, feasibility studies and multiple design options to ensure the project is achievable and aligned with your brief. 3D visualisations in this phase also ensure you have very clear and concise representations of what the final project will look like.
Design Development
We refine the design, select materials and appliances, and specify everything from window and door performance to the overall efficiency and function of the building, involving external consultants such as engineers and services.
Documentation
Once Design Development is signed off by you, we work through the documentation phase to create a ‘for construction’ set of drawings, schedules and reports. We acquire all approvals for construction from council before moving into the construction phase.
Tender + Construction
We help you get the project to site and get it built, managing tendering, contracts, and construction administration.
Post-construction
Once construction is done we remain available for any post-construction meetings, as well as ensuring the defects liability period is concluded with all defects being rectified by the builder, up to 12 months after the practical completion of the build.
